Here Comes the Sun

I just wanted to start off by saying that I am sorry for the delayed post! The other week I was literally preparing myself for the Paul McCartney concert, so I neglected practically everything else! Basically, that week consisted of listening to the Beatles and the Wings, reading a book about the Beatles and remembering the lyrics to the songs. Not to mention, I made a massive sign in hopes that Paul would sign my arm, but sadly I did not get picked. (Boo Hoo!) Oh Well! I still had a fantastic time and the show was absolutely amazing. Also watching Paul perform from the third row was just incredible and surreal! It definitely was a dream come true!
Now that the show is over, I can focus back on my blog! Today's outfit post I thought it would be appropriate to name it after a Beatles song, since I just went to Paul's concert. Also the lyrics somewhat relate to my current mood. I do feel alright, since the weather has been rather wonderful (except for the past few days). I think it is officially safe to say that the winter weather is officially over (knock on wood)! I am so looking forward to long beautiful sunny days, enjoying the warm weather and of course wearing fun bright clothes!
For my first spring outfit, I wanted to start it with a bang by choosing to incorporate lots of colour. As I was rummaging through my dresser, I found my adorable striped cardigan that I bought for $10 at Walmart a few years ago. Normally I would pair this with jeans, but I felt inspired to wear it with a skirt instead. So I looked at all of my skirts and picked this bright yellow midi skirt that I purchased from Lulu's a few years ago. Then I chose to include pieces that matched the colours of the cardigan. The only items that are new are the shoes and the jewelry (minus the bracelet). Overall, I am extremely happy that I managed to create a lovely new outfit with mostly pieces that I purchased from years ago. Woo Hoo to shopping through your closet!

Where Are You Spring

When it comes to spring, I always have mixed feelings towards the season. I love spring in the sense that the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer and it is one season away from summer. On the other hand, I detest spring since it is practically nonexistent in most parts of Canada, for the first month anyway. In fact, the first month very much resembles to November, since it is still relatively cold outside, there are dead leaves on the ground and there is always a possibility that it could snow. Not to mention, there are no flowers blooming. In other words, spring has definitely not sprung!
So what does one do until spring actually arrives? Why, you dress and pretend that it's fall of course! Well that is what I did for today's outfit post. I decided to wear this houndstooth ensemble mainly because, Sophie had a matching houndstooth coat and since I failed to get a picture of us matching last fall, I thought it would be a great time to do it this month. Unfortunately, the coat ended up being too small for her, so she only had the coat on for a minute for a few pictures. I'm actually quite surprised that she even looked at the camera. Normally, it is rather hard to get her attention for pictures. Perhaps it was because Jay kept shouting "Treats" haha!
Besides Sophie having a matching coat, I absolutely love this outfit and was gutted that I did not get the chance to wear it last fall. So when I had the opportunity to wear it last weekend, I was delighted! In general, I love the houndstooth print because it is one of those classic prints that never goes out of style. Likewise, it is chic and fun to wear at the same time. I paired the print with a rust skirt because, it is such a lovely autumn colour and I find that it complements the print rather well. My favourite piece from this outfit hands down, is definitely the shoes. The minute I spotted them on Modcloth, it was practically love at first sight haha! I definitely am looking forward to wearing these shoes more in the fall, even though that is a long time from now!

Take A Chance On Me

Yes I just named my blog post after a ABBA song! That is because whenever I look at this dress, it reminds me of the band. I'm not actually sure why, but I can just envision Agnetha and Anni-Frid wearing this in one of their music videos. With that in mind, I felt inspired to do a dreamy photo shoot, that resembles some of the film sequences in the "Take A Chance on Me" music video.

For those that follow me on Instagram, this is indeed the outfit I wore on Easter Sunday. It was also the first real spring outfit I have worn this year, even though it was still too chilly for me to wear this outside! However, I did get Jay to take a few pictures outside, in order to show you the outfit with different lighting.

Sophie (my parents' French Bulldog) is in the outdoor photo because, I just recently bought her this adorable harness and thought it would be cute to get some pictures of us in our spring outfits. Normally, I don't dress her up but since my parents are taking her back in July, I have decided to do a couple of fun outfit posts with her. As for my parents' other dog Muttley, he hates wearing stuff so I don't force him to. He just loves to go for walks that's all :)!

Rocky Mountain High

For part of the long Easter weekend, Jay (my boyfriend) and me decided to drive up to Golden, BC to spend the day there. We left Thursday evening, which was quite scary because we live 5.5 hours away and about a third of the drive was through the snow, in pitch dark. It was basically like the Millennium Falcon going into hyperdrive haha! Not to mention, there was a chance that wildlife could have jumped out at any time. Luckily, that was not the case, but still I was freaked out.

We arrived at Golden close to midnight. We planned it that way so that we could spend the whole Friday there, instead of wasting it on driving. On Friday we did two things. The first thing was the wolf walk at the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre, which I booked a few weeks prior. That for us, was the highlight of the trip and the main reason we went to Golden in the first place. It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience and I plan on talking about it in more depth in another post.

The second thing we did was drive to Revelstoke, BC which is about 1.5 hours from Golden. The drive was spur of the moment, but it worked out perfect because this is where Jay took my outfit photos. Revelstoke is a beautiful town. Everything there is cute and charming, plus they have the greenest grass in Canada I think I have ever seen (the pictures don't do it justice). To top it off, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. What was bizarre though, was that hardly any people were around, except for downtown. However, I was not complaining since we practically had the park to ourselves.

As for the outfit, I would say it's somewhat 70's inspired. Everything aside from the jeans and purse that is. I thought the necklace was perfect to go with the whole wolf theme. The top, purse and necklace are all still available for purchase on Modcloth. The top is based on John Denver's 1975 song "Rocky Mountain High," which I had no idea until I read the tag on the top. To be honest, I never even heard of the song until looking it up recently. I mainly bought the top because the mountains are like a drug to me. I realize that sounds rather cliché, but I am absolutely in love with the mountains. I'm always amazed everytime I see them. Someday, I want to live in the mountains, but for now I just visit on the long weekends.
